Yes Man - comedy

I will introduce "Yes Man". Yes Man was released in Japan on March 20, 2009. The director of this movie is Peyton Reed. His main movie work is the Antman series. The starring actor is Jim Carrey. He is also famous as the leading actor of "The Mask". He is very popular as a comedy actor. He is especially good at facial performances.

 Other actors such as Terence Stamp and Bradley Cooper also appear. This movie is based on a book written by Danny Wallace in 2005 based on his own experience. The main character of the movie is Carl,  a bank clerk played by invitations Jim Carrey. Carl always answers "No" in his private life and work,  and he refuses all from friends. One day,  Carl is given a booklet of a suspicious seminar and told that his life will change if Carl becomes a Yes man,  He will enjoy his life more. Then Carl will answer "Yes" to anything. For example,  Carl will answer “Yes” for all bank loans,  and answer “Yes” when asked to give money and a mobile phone to the homeless. 

By answering “Yes” to all the answers in this way,  Carl's subsequent life will be rapidly expanded. This movie has a lot of really funny scenes. I thought that people who answered everything with "Yes" like this movie would actually be used well. However,  what you can learn from this movie is that your life can be changed in any direction depending on how you feel. In fact,  Carl gets along with his friends by answering “Yes” to everything. Carl also meets a wonderful woman who makes his life clearer. Watching this movie will make you think you should live positively. So I wanted to be able to answer "Yes" as much as possible. And you can learn by watching this movie that it is important not only to answer "Yes" but also to do.

What Happened to Monday - SF, Action

I will introduce "What Happened to Monday". What Happened to Monday was released in Japan on October 21, 2017. The director of this movie is Tommy Wirkora. He is a director from Norway. His representative movie work is this movie. The star of this movie is actress Noomi Rapace. 

In this movie, seven sisters who are septuplets are the main characters, and they are all acted by the same actress. It makes me very impressed to see this movie knowing that all of them are played by one person. The film is set in the European Union where major countries were destroyed by war and abnormal weather on the Earth: Also, if a second child is born under the first child policy to prevent of population growth,  the child will be frozen and stored.  However, these sisters were born in Setman's house as septuplets. They were named Monday,  Tuesday,  Wednesday,  Thursday,  Friday,  Saturday,  Sunday. And each one is allowed to go out only on the day of their own name. So at home they are septuplets, but if they go outside they are playing one person, Karen Setmann. By doing so,  they are able to spend their days without being frozen and stored in the country. Of course they are 7 people, each with a different character and talent. Taking advantage of it,  they go on to rise as a banking elite. In the country,  there is a child distribution bureau that regulates the one-child policy. On a certain Monday, the character Monday went missing and didn't return home that night. I will not explain more because it becomes a spoiler of the story  this movie is SF and has violent action. 

There is also a scene where child distribution station, which is the enemy,  and the septuplets fight,  and a scene where high-tech functions appear. The best part of this movie is the charm of septuplets. The scene where each good point is fully demonstrated and they fight against the enemy is very powerful. The one-child policy in this story is based on China's one-child policy. If you watch this movie, you may think about how the one child policy may be enforced in some countries in the future. The best attraction of this movie is that Noomi Rapace appears as　seven women. I want you to watch this movie and pay attention to it.

American Animals - Crime, True story

 I will introduce "American Animals". American Animals was released in Japan on May 17 2019. The director of this movie is Bart Layton. Soon after, he received an offer to direct the next installment of the 007 series. This movie has a high score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes when it was released in the United States. This movie is true story. There is a reason that this film has won high acclaim in the United States. First, the film depicts a robbery case aimed at more than $ 12 million of books in a university library in Kentucky. And perhaps the biggest reason for the high acclaim in the United States is to have the four criminals who actually made the robbery appear. There are four real criminals: vastly Warren, Spencer who wants to be a special person, Eric who is easy to be flown around, and Chaz who is sly-minded but a rich businessmen.

In most scenes actors appear, but in some places there are scenes where the real person appears in the role and talks about the time. The four were robbers but wickedness wasn't felt by them. These four people are about the same age as me now. The plan that these young men came up with was a very shallow robbery plan. They watched criminal movies such as "Oceans 11" and made plans to learn how to be robbers. Such a robbery plan should not go well and it is a movie where their stupidity is well understood. However, it is very exciting as they become old men disguising, planning and putting ideas into action.

The fact that they don't work as well as they imagine is also telling us that reality is not so sweet. l recommend that you watch this movie after knowing it is a "true story". Then you will not think that the contents of this movie are ordinary. And in this movie you can learn that reality is not always sweet.

Valentine's Day - Love Comedy

I will introduce "Valentine's Day". Valentine's Day was released in Japan on February 12, 2010. The director of this movie is Garry Marshall. This representative movie of Garry Marshall is set on New Year's Eve. There are many famous actors and actresses appearing in this movie, such as Bradley Cooper, Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Taylor Swift. The genre of this movie is love comedy. This movie is a grand hotel style movie. The Grand Hotel method is a method in which the story line of several characters is advanced in parallel without limiting the main character to one person.

This movie is so gorgeous that I could not get bored to watching the story. This movie, as the title says, depicts the events of Valentine's Day. You can see a variety of stories such as florist stories, NFL player stories, and school teacher stories. At first,people with different occupations spend their Valentine's Day, but their stories will be connected over time. You will say why this person and this person are connected by watching their movie. And since each character with strong individuality has appeared, you can enjoy just watching it normally.

Unlike Japanese Valentines, American Valentines, men and women give presents to each other. So men give gifts such as bouquets to women. In this movie you can also see and learn about such cultural differences.  At the end this story is connected to all the stories, so you need to watch it to the end. This movie is a long film of about 2 hours,but you can feel the passing of time very quickly. Even if you are not good at love stories, you can enjoy it as there are comedy elements. After watching this movie, you will feel happy, so please take a look.

8 Mile - Music, Drama

I will introduce "8 Mile". I started watching this movie and became interested in Rappers such as hip hop genre and eminem. 8 Mile was released in Japan on May 24, 2003. The director of 8 Mile is Curtis Hanson. The lead actor is Eminem. A world-famous rapper from America.

This film is Eminem's first starring movie and it is also his semi-autobiographical movie. In this movie Eminem plays the role of B-Rabbit. Eminem had trademark blond hair at the time, but it was redone to silver hair for this movie. This film is set in Detroit where Eminem was born. In Detroit there was a boundary line "8 Mile" that separates white and black, wealthy and poor. His dream was to surpass that boundary with rap as a weapon. But this movie is not just a success story that the young creeps up from the bottom of the bottom and finds the way to go by this movie.
This movie has lots of scenes of rap, but even those who are not interested in rap, there can enjoy attractive stories and music. Especially the song "Lose Yourself", which plays at the ending of this movie is very famous and received the 2002 Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Rabbit 's rap battle played by Eminem is exciting with nature when watching it wonderfully. Especially the last scene of this movie, the Rabbit and Papa Doc battle scene, is famous and exciting.

It is worthwhile to watch this movie because it is very cool that B-rabbit overcomes various obstacles, such as family problems and violence. Please watch even if you are not interested in rap.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - comedy, action

I will introduce "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (TMNT). Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was released in Japan on January 2, 2015. The director of this movie is Jonathan Liebesman. The lead actress is Megan Fox. Other movies in which she appears is "Transformers". Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a tale of a turtle hero who is dressed as a ninja.

This movie is very popular in American comics and animation. This movie is a live action version of it. The producer of this movie is Michael Bay, so the action scenes are impressive. Michael Bay is also the director of the Transformers series and Armageddon. Mutant Turtles is made up of 4 turtles and they are named Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello.

These turtles have a height of 180 cm and usually live in the underground tonnels of New York. And they are heroes in the shape of a tortoise fighting to defend the city from an evil team. The main synopsis of this movie is that Mutant Turtles protect the city from teams that commit crimes in New York called the foot team. And in cooperation with April O'Neil who is closely connected to the turtles, they will fight and help each other.

 

A movie called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Shadow - which is the sequel to this movie was also released. In this movie Japanese is spoken a bit, so Japanese people think it is interesting to watch. For example the characters speak words like "sensei" and "hogosha". Also the costumes of the turtles are like ninja clothes. When you watch this movie please pay attention to these kinds of things too when you watch it. 

Venom - Horror, Action

Today, I will introduce "Venom". Venom was released in Japan on November 2, 2018. The director of Venom is Ruben Fleischer. He was alsothe director of the movie "ZombieLand" which was a big hit in America. 

The lead actor of this movie is Tom Hardy. Tom Hardy is also famous as the lead actor of Mad Max: Fury Road. Other performers such as Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed appear.  
              

Venom is a character of Marvel series represented by the Avengers, but this movie is not linked with Marvel for now. And Venom was originally known as Spider-Man's enemy, but Spider-Man does not appear in this movie. But thoght if Spider-Man doesn't appear, this movie is very attractive and the time passes quickly. First of all, Venom refers to an extraterrestrials called a symbiote. The symbiote parasitizes Edy Block which Tom Hardy plays and becomes Venom. Most movies feature a hero who is a gentle person with a strong sense of justice, but this movie has a hero who is a very cruel character. As a brutal place, for example, He devours people from the head down in horrific scenes and their faces are very scary with sharp teeth that are particularly characteristic. 

I cannot say the contents because it becomes spoiled if I speak no more, but this series will series will have at least two more Venon movies. There are various fun points such as whether Venom will change in the two works, and  whether Spider-Man will appear in the future.
